Right to Repair Scheme
Viewpoint is responsible for ensuring that small urgent repairs, up to the value of £350, are carried out within a certain timescale. This is called the 'Right to Repair' scheme and is detailed in your Tenant's Handbook and in the leaflet in the link below.
The repairs which are covered under the scheme are known as 'qualifying' repairs and can include:
- unsafe power, lighting sockets or electrical fittings
- loss or part loss of electrical power/gas or water supply
- external windows, doors or locks which are not secure
- toilets which do not flush (if there is no other toilet in the house)
Viewpoint's Maintenance Department will be able to let you know if the repair you need is included in the scheme.
Repair times under this scheme will depend on the type of repair, however if it is an emergency we aim to have the work done in one day, three days if it is urgent. If the Association fails to carry out certain repairs within the agreed timescale, you may be entitled to compensation (subject to conditions).
