About Us

At Viewpoint, people matter, not just our residents and tenants but our staff.  We are a registered non-profit making organisation providing a range of general needs housing, supported housing and care services for older people in Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife.  Established in 1947, our primary objective is to improve the quality of life and well-being of our care home residents and tenants through promoting independence, enabling choice and offering peace of mind in a safe, secure and supported environment.

About Croft-An-Righ

Croft-An-Righ is a complex of 94 flats situated in Abbeyhill, close to Holyrood Palace and the beautiful grounds of Holyrood Park.  Working here, you’ll be part of a unique service that provides housing support as well as exceptional levels of care to our service users.

About the Role

As an @Home Care Assistant, you provide holistic, respectful and person centred care to our service users in accordance with personal care plans, with a view to promoting individuality and independence and supporting them to make informed choices about the services they receive.  Based on site in Croft-An-Righ, you will be involved in anything from helping with a weekly shop to helping in the use and care of aids and personal equipment and to attend appointments.

As part of your induction you will work closely with an experienced member of our staff team, to get to know our services users and the rest of the @HOME team.  You will be supported and trained in a range of topics, including health and social care best practice, risk assessment and health and safety, person centred care, promoting independence, prompting/administering medication, providing excellent communication, and accurate completion of records and reports.

We require you to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).  We also require you join the Adult Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme, and cover this cost for you.

About You

You will ideally hold SVQ Health and Social Care Level 2.  You will have knowledge and experience of caring for by older people.  You might have gained this through providing support in a community setting, through experience in your own family, or through another relevant environment.

You have a flexible approach, are kind and respectful and always focused on preserving the dignity and self-respect for those you are or would be caring for. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and are able to work effectively with a variety of people from a variety of backgrounds.  You are keen to support and drive the development of a positive working culture.
