Viewpoint appoints new CEO

Viewpoint today announces the appointment of Jean Gray as new CEO. Jean is expected to take up her post on 1 April 2019.

Currently Operations Director for Berwickshire Housing Association, Jean brings a wealth of experience in housing and care, achieved over 25 years in Local Authority, NHS and the Housing Sector.

A respected figure in Scottish housing, Jean has worked across homelessness, housing management, asset management, development and care, always with a continual focus on delivering excellent customer service. She also serves as a Board Member for the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA) and is Vice-Chair of Youth Borders.

Joining Viewpoint to champion the organisation’s strategic goals and act as influential advocate she will also guide the organisation through the Scottish Government’s new Housing Beyond 2021 strategy.

On her appointment, Jean said: “I’m extremely happy to be joining Viewpoint, people are at the core of everything the organisation does and it has a proud history and real culture of creating joy in later years.

“I love the fact that staff are empowered to be innovative and create exciting new services to enhance our communities. Viewpoint is a strong organisation with a reputation for being a very credible leader in raising the standard of older people’s service development and provision. Its reputation is built on integrity and expertise and I am looking forward to being part of its future.

“There are some challenging but exciting times ahead where we can continue to be forward thinking, drive up standards and continue to grow. I believe there are some really good examples of innovative models of health, care and support for adults. The challenge now is to look at how we can deliver those so as many people’s lives are improved as possible.

“My vision is to create thriving communities where services are delivered with a person-centred approach from staff and in which tenants are empowered to make well-informed, supported decisions to maximise their overall control and independence within their local community”.

Viewpoint Chair, Jackie Macdonald said: “We are delighted to welcome Jean Gray to Viewpoint. She has a clear vision for Viewpoint to lead us in a strategic direction that will enable us to meet the many challenges that lie ahead in the housing sector especially as we look post 2021.

“I know she will challenge everyone here at Viewpoint and encourage us to ensure we are delivering excellent customer services; achieving customer satisfaction as well as improving the services that reach the most vulnerable people in our communities. “
