The major kitchen refurbishment carried out at St Raphael's Care Home is the largest ever completed of its type by Viewpoint, with an investment in excess of £160,000.00. The logistics and planning for this project took many months as we knew that the provision of hot meals to all our residents in Cunningham House, Marian House and St Raphael’s relied heavily on a robust business continuity plan.
Without this plan it would not have been possible to deliver on the necessary investment. A temporary kitchen capable of maintaining the high standard of catering was one of the measures brought in for the duration of the planned programme of work. The programme allowed four weeks for all work to be completed. During this time, staff from our Asset team worked closely with our Care Home Managers, staff and Airco (our appointed contractor) in order to keep the disruption to a minimum. The existing kitchen was completely removed. New drainage, flooring, lighting, and wall ceilings were installed. Then a full suite of new commercial appliances (to an exacting specification) along with new equipment and work surfaces was installed.
The project was completed on time, to a high quality and with no delays. Our residents and staff are delighted with the final outcome. This investment ensures that St Raphael’s will have an exemplary commercial kitchen that is fit for purpose for the coming years and all our residents will benefit greatly from this investment.
