Viewpoint Covid-19 Resilience and Remobilisation Update

We want to take this opportunity to provide an update as a result of changes to Scottish Government Guidance related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our priority continues to be the health and wellbeing of our tenants, residents and staff, and of course, we continue to follow all public health guidance.

Only essential staff attend work in our complexes, our care homes and properties. All other staff are predominantly working from home, as per current Government guidelines.  Our contractors, in the main, continue to attend for routine and planned repairs and maintenance.  Please ensure to continue to advise us if you or a member of your household is self-isolating in order that appropriate precautions and practices can be adhered to.

Head Office

  • Our Head Office at South Oswald Road, Edinburgh, remains closed to the public. Viewpoint staff can be contacted by phoning our main switchboard number 0131 668 4247 or using the ‘request a repair’ or ‘contact us’ links on our website.

Care Homes

  • Our dedicated care home teams continue to provide 24 hour care and support to our residents, following regularly updated Guidance from Scottish Government and Health Protection Scotland.  We continue to follow “Open with Care” guidance .  Currently residents can have visits in their rooms by family and friends by calling the home and booking an appointment.   All visitors are required to provide evidence that they have carried out a Lateral Flow Test (LFT) with a negative result prior to their visit.  The care home staff will assist anyone who cannot manage to complete the LFT at home.   Visitors will be asked questions including travel out-with the UK at the time of booking and when they visit.
  • Should an outbreak occur, we will adhere to the instructions of the Health Protection Team and the care home manager will contact the next of kin to advise of any restrictions and additional measures.
  • For anyone who cannot visit, The “Relatives Gateway” on our electronic care planning system, along with Skype, WhatsApp, Zoom, and regular telephone calls will continue to be facilitated.

Essential visits, as defined in the “Open with Care” guidance remains unchanged.

Repairs and Maintenance

  • All repairs can be completed when they are reported. If you are in any doubt about an outstanding repair you have reported, please contact us on Freephone 08003 457 347
  • Essential compliance work continues, such as Fire Risk Assessments, Lift Maintenance, Gas Servicing and Emergency Lighting checks in block stairwells. If we require access to your property we will contact you directly to discuss an appropriate time;
  • Planned capital works have restarted. If we require access to your property we will contact you directly to discuss an appropriate time.
  • Our window cleaning contractor will only clean external windows for the foreseeable future which removes the requirement for their operatives to enter your property.
  • All our contractors are currently required to undertake daily COVID-19 tests and must return a negative result to attend any of our sites or properties.
  • The Government now advise that if you are having work undertaken in your home, that you should undertake a COVID-19 test in advance.

Communal Lounges/Guest Rooms in Complexes

  • Internal common areas are open for tenants only and in line with guidance, for no more than 3 households to meet. Social activities are suspended temporarily.
  • Guest rooms will be available for use on a case by case basis for emergencies.

Meeting Our Staff

In order to limit the risk of transmission of the virus for the foreseeable future, home visits by our staff will only be undertaken when absolutely necessary, with the majority of contact being made by telephone.

  • If any staff need to visit you in your home, we will talk through the process that we will need to follow with you, in advance, to ensure that you are comfortable that we will be entering your home;
  • All our staff are currently required to undertake daily COVID-19 lateral flow tests and must return a negative result to attend any of our sites or properties. We ask that if possible you also undertake a Lateral Flow test prior to any visit from staff.

We extend our thanks to all our residents, tenants, staff and all associated with Viewpoint, for their patience, understanding and feedback at this difficult time. We hope you all remain in good health and continue to stay safe.
